The 50 Best Date Movies Ever?

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Ever wonder what’s a good DVD to pop in that will turn your date on and generate chemistry?

Well, look no further. Here is a list for 50 best date movies ever. My favorite from the list? It’s got to be Dirty Dancing and Casablanca!

However, I’m not quite sure how some of them made into the list. Movies like “The Descent”, “The Science of Sleep” are IMO just too bloody or too weird to be considered good date movies.

What do you think of the list? Do you think it missed anything?

One movie I think that should definitely be on the list is “A Knight’s Tale”, with crazy tale mixing jousting and classic rock songs. Heath Ledger was just amazing.
Another one is gotta be “Fatal Attraction”. Michael Doughlas and Glenn Close was really great! I like that scene when she sneaks in their house and she’s holding a butcher life cutting herself now isn’t that creepy!!

You try to ignore it, but the queasy feeling won’t disappear. Is it all in my head? you wonder. Blaming yourself for being insecure, you sweep your worries under the futon.

Three months later, you’re purging the debris of a hit-and-run relationship, wishing you could rewind and stop at the instant you sensed you were getting the short end of the proverbial stick.

Have you ever Googled your Date?

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

For those who are in the dating game, you would be surpised on how much information you can dig up on your date using the net these days.

Internet search has totally changed the dating scene. In traditional dating you find out about the person that you are dating by spending time with him/her, and perhaps even through friends or families. Nowdays with our good friend google you can find out more than you want to know about who you are dating within a couple of minutes.

This article takes a look at the current trend of googling for information about who you are dating.

Pam Smith, who went out with a “Nice” man three times got a rude awakending when she typed her date’s name into Google and saw his name on the Most Wanted List.

“…He was the nicest guy you could possibly want to meet…Now, I feel like a fool.”

Would you ever google your date? What happens if everyone’s information is made public? Is compromising user privacy a good cause for better or even safer dating? What are some of your thoughts?

Online Truth and Deceptions

masked people

Just how much do people lie online? Do you stretch the truth a little bit when you are filling out your profile? This article is an excellent piece from Scientific American on the truthfulness of online dating.

According to the research conducted by MIT and Boston University, a whooping 90% of the people actually exaggerate their dating profiles while only 20% admit to doing so. The research results also indicate that men tend to lie about their education, marital status, heights, and income. Women tend to lie about their weight, age, and looks. Another interesting fact is that the amount of exaggeration tends to increase with age. Is online dating really making an already serious commitment problem even worse?

tv sports Apparently through websites such as DontDateHimGirl.com and Womansavers.com people can actually post “anti-profiles”, or profiles of persons to watch out for (sort of like America’s Most Wanted for Internet Dating).

Have you checked to see if you’re on the most wanted list today?

The Internet can also be useful, like how online colleges allow you to get yourself degrees through an online school program. Many people find that by getting an online education they can save a lot of money, since you don’t have to move or commute to get online degrees from your couch at home.

How To Be The Perfect Girlfriend

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

This is a humorous video clip of 7 tips on how to be the perfect girlfriend I found on VideoJug.com. While I don’t agree with some of the points entirely, I still think the British guy was just hilarious. “… Symptoms of hunger to be looked out for include grumpiness, slightly flared nostrils, or he may appear to be hunting …”. Apparentlly there is also a boyfriend version “How To Be The Perfect Boyfriend“, but in IMO the 1st one is still funnier.

Meg Stivison, author of : Why Napoleon Dynamite can help you in your Matching Profile

Those pessimistic stereotypes about online dating are over now! Today, you’re more likely to find someone who’s simply been too busy with their career and their other interests to follow traditional dating patterns. And let’s be honest, do you really want to build a relationship with a pickup in the bar? ‘Net dating allows you to screen for someone really special, not just someone who happens to be single. With a little honesty and a little creativity, you’ll be meeting better matches and making better connections in no time.

With thousands and thousands of potential loves out there, your personal description needs to attract your Mr. or Ms. Right. Everyone likes listening to music, watching movies and spending time with friends, but that’s exactly the kind of information you should leave out. When you read a lot of profiles, as I did as a matchmaker for a local agency, “I like listening to music,” starts to mean “I’m not creative,” or even “I’m boring.” That’s not what you want a possible date to think!
