I think this is bogus. Why not hire a private investigator and do background checks on every guy you date? What a joke. If I got serious with a gal and then found out later she Googled me, it would be over. You yentas are too much. No wonder you're single!

I would think that it is necessary to change the way we think of dating. It should not longer be out of desperation or need but out of readiness and fit don't you think?

word of caution... make sure you know you have googled the right person. A girl I know researched me for a bit, thought she knew me and found out she had been researching the wrong person.

Right name, wrong person. The other person had some writing about cute little kitty cats or something that she really loved. I'm not that kinda guy so her expectations were kinda screwed when she found out she had been researching the wrong person... :)

Was funny.
Btw, great photo above...

I Google each and every date! It's always nice to be able to pull out those fun facts in mid-conversation. "So I hear you run a pretty mean marathon," I said to a date on our first meeting between bits of my penne pasta and sips of a chardonnay. I had found times online in various marathons she'd run. She was surprised, but I've never had a negative reaction to it. Sure, it may feel a bit creepy to get Googled, but it sure shows your interested. It's also helpful type the name both with and without quotes around it. ;)

Ok.. Ok.. I will admit, I searched once, but it was in the court dockets, because what he was saying sounded funny and he said he was going to court but was being very evasive.. Well turns out he had just beat up his "girlfriend" and was getting charges pressed against him.. Was glad I snooped.. and with good reason!

I DID google my match.com date, and all looked well...............fast forward 1 1/2 years later and there's an entire blog written by women he "dated" trying to figure out what the hell just happened. Turns out this comedian and Improv manager has a rare crushing fetish and just wanted to talk about having women in shiney pants sit on mice while he filmed them. Well, at least new women will be warned. You can't make stuff like this up!

I haven't dated in some time (it would be terribly upsetting to my husband if I resumed) but if I were dating, I would definitely google my date. I would also expect him to google my name.

By the same I've looked up old friends online prior to meeting up with them. I ended up more than once because I decided that what I found online was way too creepy.

I wish i would have googled my match.com date Howie Nave (http://todatehowienave.blogspot.com) before I started writing him a year ago. I would have found out then that he was IMing and emailing many ladies about wearing shiny pants and pumps and sitting on mice, hamsters and other creatures while he took photos. He drove many ladies including myself into counseling. Next time I ever date, I will google google google and yahoo yahoo yahoo !

Oh, what fun there is to find on the modern snooping machine of the internet! This isn't about dating really, but hope you'll include it. It's fun.
I've learned that you can find just about anything you want to know or find a lot of people from the past. It's so interesting!
I have to admit that I got a little morbid for my first few months of having the internet. People at work would occassionally ask, "Still finding new dead people?" Back then ancestry.com had a lot more free areas to look up, and I, for some odd reason, was spending way too much time looking up all of my childhood friends' parents.
Then I moved on to a new interest of finding out how much all of my friends' houses cost. zillow.com gives their "zestimations" of property and house value, but if the house was sold more recently, you actually get the real value. Interesting (and nosey, I know).
Another great find was zoominfo.com. I found a highschool boyfriend and a few others, but the best one was finding my childhood playmate. He was a big boy for his age, and I was small for my age. I was a tomboy, and he was somewhat of a bully. Maybe it was his big blue eyes, but he came off as somewhat dumb. One day he got the notion that we should take turns tieing each other up in his tree fort, and see who could get out faster. My turn was first and I wriggled out of the grips of his carefully tied knots, and then shimmied down the one of the supports of the treehouse. (His treehouse had been built by the same builders who had build his famiy's house.) Then it was his turn. I tied some expert knots taught to me by my one and only big brother and took off, leaving him to escape at his best pace.
Minutes past and no sign of my buddy. No sound, no nothing. Then at long last I heard him calling my name in a whining sort of cry, and I hesitated thinking it was a prank on his part. I was afraid to put the ladder up to the treehouse to go to his aid, because I figured he'd push the ladder backward, knocking me off and flyiing.
Finally, when I heard full-blown screaming, I went up, and there he was, still tied up with a tear streaked face. I rescued him from my own work of art around his wrists with no thank you in return. He instead climbed down to the ground and ran in his house and told his nanny who had never met me. Thus I became the bully, that is, until she saw me approaching with all of my height being about half his size.

Well, upon seeing my old friend on his website for his business, he appears to be a warm, kind, gentle man. So instead of googling my date, maybe I might like to date my google. We last saw each other some 40 odd years ago. Wouldn't that be something if I walked into his business and asked him if he wanted to try the old treehouse contest again? lol (jk)

One day he got the notion that we should take turns tieing each other up in his tree fort, and see who could get out faster. My turn was first and I wriggled out of the grips of his carefully tied knots, and then shimmied down the one of the supports of the treehouse. (His treehouse had been built by the same builders who had build his famiy’s house.) Then it was his turn.
I was afraid to put the ladder up to the treehouse to go to his aid, because I figured he’d push the ladder backward, knocking me off and flyiing.

Wouldn’t that be something if I walked into his business and asked him if he wanted to try the old treehouse contest again? lol (jk)

I think it's quite hard to google a person's information because there are too many similar names. I tried that too but it wasted lots of my time
